Saving Montreal's Oldest Church Bell
Missing for 30 years, the oldest church bell in Montreal was found almost "miraculously" in the yard of a metal recycler in Rivière-du-Loup, in 2021, thanks to the investigative work of Jocelyn Duff and Patrick Goulet, two members of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville Historical Society. To prevent it from being sold to foreign interests, the Factory of the Church of the Visitation appealed to the new Minister of Culture, Mathieu Lacombe, to have it classified as a heritage asset.
