Quebec announces $3 million to promote and protect our collective memory
The Minister of Culture and Communications, Ms. Nathalie Roy, announces the granting of $3 million to support the network of accredited private archives services (SAPA).
This amount is intended to improve the assistance granted to all SAPAs so that each of them can better fulfill its mission of ensuring the conservation and classification of archival documents as well as highlighting Québec's heritage. The government thus almost doubles the annual investments in the SAPAs.
The increase in government financial assistance, managed by Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ), will make it possible to provide more adequate support to the SAPAs. It should be remembered that, collectively, the latter preserve nearly 20 km of textual documents, more than 13 million iconographic documents, 1 million maps and plans, 74,100 hours of sound recordings and 253,300 hours of moving images (films , videos).
