Reflection on the future of the churches of the MRC de Nicolet-Yamaska

On March 27, the MRC de Nicolet-Yamaska ​held a​Churches Day in the former church of the municipality of Saint-Elphège, now transformed into a multifunctional hall. Nearly fifty people from 12 municipalities exchanged in a very concrete way on the question of the future of the churches.

Except for a few rare exceptions, churches are certainly the most important buildings of our municipalities," says the prefect and Mayor of the City of Nicolet, Ms. Geneviève Dubois. "A physical importance because of their location in the heart of the villages or because of their size and imposing architecture, and also because of their place in the history of communities and families," adds Ms. Dubois, adding that the reflection on the churches is a "An important issue that raises interesting challenges in our rural areas".
